Eva's First Christmas

Eva will be turning one soon so this was her first Christmas.  She got some nice clothes and toys (thanks everyone!) and enjoyed herself very much.  We took some video, but that will take some time to edit, so I hope to have it up soon, but for now enjoy these pictures.

A train under the tree has always been a tradition in my family, so I wanted to continue it with our family.

Of all of Eva's gifts, she seems to like this little piano the most.  She's a natural!

Great Grandpa and Grandma came to have Christmas dinner with us and spend some time with Eva.

We capped the day off by doing what you can probably only do in Florida - we went to the beach.   At around 6 PM it was still a balmy 72 degrees.  Plus Aimee got to use her new hip carrier for Eva.

A Big Week

This week Eva took her first step.  She was with Justin upstairs and just took one step forward and sat down on her bum.  Eva has 6 teeth as of this past weekend!  Here are some fun pics, the last one is so cute - she loves to put her feet up while she eats in her high chair.

Something is Going Around!

We are all sick! Early this week Aimee got a cold, I got it the following day then Eva the next. I took off work Thursday to rest but am back at work today, though still sick. The baby is holding up okay for now, just a little stuffy and sneezing - we both seem to have just a head cold.

Aimee, on the other hand, is doing worse than us. Her cold went almost straight to her chest and she was wheezing, so she went to the doctor this morning and he thinks its bronchitis and that she is on the verge of pnuemonia. I've never seen something turn into bronchitis so quickly.

So please - pray for healing from all of this, especially that Aimee gets better quickly and that Eva doesn't get any worse and gets better quickly as well. And me too! After all, we still have Christmas shopping to do!

Thanksgiving in Georgia

Man, we've been all over the place the last six months! In July we went to Pennyslvania to see my family, in September we went to Colorado to see Beth and Larry, then I had to take a short work trip to Minnesota, and then we drove up near Atlanta to see Aimee's Dad and Brother for Thanksgiving. We're like world travelers (on a very small scale of course.) Needless to say, we're done traveling for a while!

Aimee's uncle David and his family live near Jacksonville, right between our house and Dallas, GA where her Dad and Brother live, and they were nice enough to let us stay at their house on the way up, which was a nice break from all the driving.


We had lunch with David's family (above) but then we were running late and needed to make up for lost time, so we threw Eva in the back with the rest of the luggage and took off. Just kidding!

We got to Aimee's Dad's house a bit late but we were happy to be done driving. Eva was too of course.

Near their house is a very long walking path called the Silver Comet trail. I think it goes all the way to Alabama. We went for a nice walk, but not quite that far of course. Eva got to ride in her new jogger stroller that Glenn and Janice got for us.

It was a bit chilly and rainy up there most days, but we had a few days with great weather. One of them was Black Friday and Glenn took us to some outlet shops and we got some great deals (unlike the outlet shops near us, which don't really offer anything quite that good.) We hung around the house, played some games and video games, watched some movies, and of course ate some turkey (and homemade scones!) All in all a nice relaxing vacation.

Then we had the 10-hour drive back, which considering we were traveling with Eva and needed to stop for lunch and dinner, it was going to be more like 12 hours. However there was sooo much holiday traffic, and I think we counted 13 accidents, that it took us over 14 hours to finally get home. What a long day of driving that was! We're just glad we made it back safely. I think we'll fly next time though!

Talking

Eva is now saying "Baby", "Mimi" and "Daddy" perfectly clear!  She is also climbing up the stairs easily.

30 Degrees in Minnesota

This week I had to go to Minnesota for work for a department summit.  Thankfully the trip went smoothly overall, but it was a long week between the travel and extra hours making up work.  One plus is that I got to go to the Mall of America a few times since it was only 5 miles from my hotel - the place is huge, you need several trips just to see it all!  It's basically a four-story mall with a mini-amusement park in the middle.  

It was cold there, but thankfully I was inside most of the time.  I didn't get to see any snow, but I don't like the idea of planes landing when it is snowing, so I guess that was good.  It was great to be back home though - I missed Aimee and Eva a lot. Here are some pictures:

Visit From Uncle David

Aimee's Uncle David came down from Jacksonville for a brief visit so he got to see how big Eva is getting!  He tried to feed her to the lobsters at Red Lobster where they had lunch.  Eva likes crab! Who knew?  She also got to drive his truck, but she couldn't reach the pedals yet :)

Out For a Stroll

Florida can have some beautiful weather around October and November (my favorite time of the year.)  We decided to go for a walk around the lake at "Downtown at the Gardens" town center and it made for some good photo ops.  Enjoy!
