Developement

Please understand - this blog is not intended to brag about Eva, it is intended to communicate her milestone's for our families who cannot be here to see her.  Also, we like to document her growth because we would like to eventually turn this blog into a book.  So please enjoy.

• Drank from a cup on her own.  We were out to eat with my grandparents this past Saturday, distracted by conversation I left Justin's apple juice cup "too" close to Eva. It was one of those plastic 7'' cups, 1/3 of the way full.  We looked over at Eva and she was drinking the juice without spilling any on herself, then putting it back on the table when she was done.  Then repeating over and over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I was so excited I didn't get any pictures!  I was so proud!
• Conquering the spoon:  If we put food on the fork or spoon Eva can manuver the fork and the spoon into her mouth very well.  I only put things that we can stab and it stays in place for the fork and sticky stuff like, yogurt, on the spoon.  For the spoon she even inserts it into her mouth, closes her mouth and then lifts the spoon up and out so the food is wiped into her bouth using her upper lip.
• She puts her diaper in the trash and her clothes in the hamper when asked.
• Saw a picture of Grandpa, pointed at him and said, "Bampa"
• She readily gives kisses and hugs now
• crosses her fingers (I might have already mentioned this one...)
• Did sign language for Daddy
• She is identifying different objects real and in pictures with their name:
bowl
shirt
bubble
toes
car - this one is her favorite!
fish
plane
close door
meow
arf - like a dog
tried to sing along to ABC song using inflection and everything!

Cracker Barrel Precision

Eva was taking the pegs out of the hole and putting them in.  She figured out that when they're upside down to turn them right side up and even when the base was sliding away from her she'd put one hand on the pad to keep it in one place and then put the peg in the hole with the other.

Side note:  Eva walked to the bathroom and rubbed her hands together to get me to wash them tonight - they were dirty.

15 Month Check Up

We got to see our favorite Dr. today!  Made the visit so much more pleasant!  Eva was such a good girl!  She was showing off - signing for food :).  He said it was great that I'm still nursing Eva.  He said that research shows that long term breastfeeding (like 2 years) showed 10 points higher in IQ.  Maybe thats my problem!

• Two shots:  DTaP and Hep A.  She didn't cry at all!  She seemed to tense up a little though
• 20 lbs. 12 oz.
• 30 inches long
• 17 3/4 head circumference

Peek-a-boo!

Hmm...what to order?

I love her chubbiness

I think I'll just eat these eyes

New words today:
"bubble"
"meow"
When we sang the ABC song tonight she tried to sing along the whole time!  She was trying to sing and was very proud of herself

New things:
She showered me with kisses while we were looking at pictures of lions!
She was playing in her room, stood in front of me then laid her head on my shoulder for a good 2 minutes.  Just chillin'.  I was in heaven.
She crossed her middle finger over her index finger - for luck!
She loves the Hoedown Throwdown song by Miley Cyrus!  She requests it- "boom, boom, boom"

Mommy/Daughter Day

I had a couple of days off this week and Eva and I tried to make the most of our time together.  We really enjoyed being together, of course :).  We picked up lunch at Nature's Way Cafe and took it to the beach.  Eva has not liked the beach so far.  She doesn't like the texture of the sand and the water is intimidating.  So I made sure we sat right in the sand to eat and play!  She didn't cry she just balances on her butt, so her hands and feet don't get sandy and then she looks up at me like, "why are we doing this again?" But after her legs got tired she finally put them in the sand and after realizing sand on her hand wasn't taboo she really enjoyed watching the waves.

We went down to the water and put our feet in.  She loved the water rushing over her feet even though it was cold!  The picture that is a close up of her face laughing and looking down was the face she was making when her hands and feet were in the rushing water.

Then we went to the MareineLife Center and saw some sea turtles! Very fun!

New News

• Up - she this very clearly over and over when I showed her the word and said it to her.
• Shoe - Justin asked her to get her shoes to go for a walk.  She said, "shoooo", went and grabbed them and then brought them to him.
• Dirty - we told her not to touch the vacuum b/c its dirty and she repeated the word.
• All done (while doing the sign language) "aww dawn"
• pointed at her diaper saying "poppy, poopy" and she had actually pooped
• We pray before we eat. When we tell Eva, "Lets pray" she clasps her hands :).
• She loves books!  She picks them off her bookshelf, then runs to me with one and plops on my lap to be read to.
