Vacation - First Plane Ride

I am off work this week and part of next week and we are all flying up to Pennsylvania so my family can see Eva Mae in person.  This will be our first time traveling with a little one -- and her first time on a plane, so we are a bit nervous!  Aimee has been great, diligently practicing with Eva sitting in her lap for a few hours at a time to train her for the plane trip (since she'll need to sit in our laps for 3 hours during the flight.)

So tomorrow we pack up and try to get to sleep early, as we'll need to get up at about 2:30 AM to get ready and get to the airport by around 4:30 AM to catch our flight.  At least we'll get to PA nice and early.  Please pray for safety and an easy trip with the little one, as well as good weather! I have taken many trips to PA for the Fourth of July and it almost always RAINS, causing a delay with the fireworks shows!

We will be sure to post some pictures of Eva with Grandma Donna, Grandpa John, Great Grandma Sarah, Great Grandpa Jim, and Great Grandma Phyllis, and Great Grandpa Dick, and hopefully some video too!

Guess Who Sat Up

On Saturday, on June 28th, Eva Mae sat up!  The three of us were making it a lazy morning and laying on our bed.  As usual when I took a drink of water Eva's hands went up in excitement. Justin and I said, "Eva sit up!" as we tempted her with the glass of water.  I put my hand across her legs for leverage and she did it on the very first try!  Justin and I were so excited, as you can imagine.

Though we have not been able to get her to do it again, we have put her at a 45 degree angle and she has sat up from there.  We know she is strong enough to do it now though!  Also she has been sitting for extended periods of time before she topples over, so her balance is getting much better as well.  It is so exciting to watch her grow.  We know we will miss her being so small, but we look forward to her growing into the little person she will be!

Father's Day and Beyond

For Father's day we celebrated at P.F Chang's, but had to keep it pretty low key because of Eva's cold.  Justin is such a wonderful father!

Here are some fun pictures!

Cutie

Sitting, talking and sneezing

Eva Mae has been doing some very cool things this week. She cannot get herself into a sitting position, but when I sit her up she can stay that way for 1 to 2 minute stretches! I love this little girl, she is such a mini person.

She has been talking with purpose. Often times she will start to coo and then spit up, sneeze, pee, poop, etc. She also has been cooing more and more when she is looking at something or even looking at me and cooing! She use to just randomly make noise.

She has the beginning stages of another cold! Since babies really are at a higher risk - everyone touches her hands whether they are clean or not and the hands go right into the mouth, she doesn't have a fully developed immune system and well she is moving around on the floor. So despite our efforts to keep her clean and everything else - she is sick. Please pray for our girl.

She is very cuddly. There are so many times she is laying down and makes these cute little whimper sounds in her sleep, I just want to reach out and pick her up and cuddle with her a little longer before I go to sleep. Last night I did and she was so happy. She just looked at me intently and smiled as I held her with her head resting on my shoulder. She is so much fun. Every stage is more fun than the last. We have started with some training this week.

I will work on getting some more pictures!

Surprise Visitors

Grandpa Glenn came for a surprise visit with his girlfriend Janice, from June 4th through the 7th. We had a wonderful time visiting with them. Eva recognized my Dad and was happy to meet Janice. My grandparents came up from Lake Worth for each visit. Wednesday we went to Five Guys for Burgers and then got a Gelati, Thursday we went to Crab House and Saturday we cooked mini burgers at our house on the grill with yummy potato salad and cake that my Grandma made. There was more fun and food than that but those were the highlights.

First Word!!!

Today while I (Justin) was at the chiropractor, Eva said her first word! Aimee was holding her, and I looked over and said "Hi" in my cutesy voice...then to our surprise, within about two seconds, she said "Hi" right back to me! We both said to each other "Did you hear that?!?!" Now I know you are probably thinking she just made a noise that sounded like "Hi" and I suppose that is possible, but most of the noises she has made since she started finding her voice don't sound anything like words, with the exception of the sound of a consonant or vowel here or there... but she has never said "Hi" before - that one is new, and a real word!

Presents!

My mom, Aimee's mom, sent Eva a bunch of books and Eva loved them. See for yourself. Also a picture I love that she shows Eva's tiny foot.
